Avid 24fps EDLs
Offline on Older Mac Systems
(You can offline on any Avid Mac 24fps NuVista or ABVB system, but only
ABVB vers 7.2 will have the proper TC24 column)
- Shoot film and transfer to 1080p/24, or shoot 1080p/24 HD.
- Make 30fps NTSC dubs (take 30fps TC from VITC stream off Sony HD deck)
As of April 2001, there is a firmware update from Sony that will allow the HDW-F500 to send the
30fps TC down the 422 deck control channel for digtizing 601 while controlling that deck.
- Digitize video into Media Composer 7.2 (or later) 24fps film project.
- In source clip bin(s), Duplicate the Start column into the TC 24 column. *
- Edit the show.
- Using EDL Manager 10.1 (or later) on the Mac system, select Source and Output format as 24,
and make EDL(s). **
- On-line 1080p/24 using the 24fps EDL(s).
* Add the TC24 column to the bin, highlight the Start column and use the Duplicate
command in the Edit menu. If the show is already cut, you can simply open your
cuts bin, go to the Bin menu and Set Bin Display to Show Reference Clips.
This will reveal all the source clips for the sequence(s) and then you can
Duplicate the Start timecode into the TC24 column for those clips.
This saves you having to update every individual source bin.
**EDL Manager 10.x requires an Avid dongle with the "film" option
in order to produce a 24fps EDL. Later versions of EDL Manager might work, but I have not tested them. There are specific extensions that need to be added to OS8.1. These are included in the EDL Mgr 10.1 archive on this site. You can get the extesions only at here.
